What Is OODA Savage?
The “OODA loop” is the cycle of: Observe. Orient. Decide. Act. This concept was developed by military strategist and United States Air Force Colonel, John Boyd, who applied his concept to the combat operations process, often at the operational level during military campaigns. The approach explains his methods used to overcome opponents.
That's OODA from a tactical standpoint. To be OODA Savage means to turn that application inward on one’s self and apply to your everyday life.
Orient the direction of your life.
Decide what path to take and the steps to get there.
Act, to make it happen…with Savage conviction.
Be savage in all things, in your own OODA and in the pursuit of LIFE! Be fierce! Be unorthodox! Be relentless in your efforts, as you only fail when you quit. Be OODA Savage.
The Inspiration Behind the Brand
This was the first official design of OODA Savage and is in truth, the reason for the founding of my brand, which was born from great loss. Tim Doyle, known by loved ones fondly as Timmy aka "Gimmer," was a true artist and musician of many talents. An old soul in a modern world, a true Renaissance man who constantly strived to improve himself. In 2018 Timmy was diagnosed with cancer. Being a cancer survivor myself, I had no doubt Timmy would best his cancer as I had bested mine.
Four months later, I held my cousin's hand for the last time. He gave me three weak squeezes as I told him I loved him and said good-bye. I still play a song Timmy sang in one of his last live performances multiple times a day. The song is a cover of Willie Nelson’s song, "Just Breath,” and the last lyrics say, "Hold me till I die...meet you on the other side."
Timmy was fearless in life and death. Before he passed, Timmy said he loved the life he lived and had no regrets. Timmy's spirit is the very essence of OODA Savage, and with his loss I was inspired to OODA my life with savage conviction, starting the brand I talked about with Timmy oftentimes over the years.
Timmy passed away on 9/20/2018. On 9/26/2018 OODA Savage LLC was officially established - by chance, by God, or by Timmy's spirit, the very day Timmy was born. We designed this shirt in tribute to my cousin and in remembrance of all our lost loved ones. Most if not all have lost close friends or family, so let this shirt be a reminder to cherish those precious moments and savor sweet memories. Live, love, and sing with savage conviction... As Timmy did. RIP Brohan, meet you on the other side...
